Mending

Aside from patched knees, most of the mending I do seems to be odd, and always of the type that bends my needles, like repairing the velcro straps to kneepads. Oh well, at least I matched the thread—Carter was very concerned that I wouldn’t use black thread, which probably would damage his cred.

Some Thoughts on Change

this morning, at breakfast, Carter wondered why it was still rather dark

Carter: Why are we eating so early today?
Me: It’s Daylight Savings Time now. We set the clocks ahead an hour so that it’s light later in the evening.
Carter: But why’s it dark?
Me: What happens is we move the clock ahead an hour and that hour… it kind of goes *poof!* and it never is. The clock does it while you’re asleep.
Carter: They took an hour from me?
Me: Well. Yeah, I guess. I mean, not just you, buddy. But oh, hey—you get it back next fall. After Halloween we get the hour back.
Carter: Like I’m even going to want it anymore then.

Seuss Day

In a world of Seuss lovers, I have a Theo LeSeig fan. Just as silly, but perhaps not as manic, these are the stories Cole asks to be read. Friday was Dr. Seuss Day at preschool and we made this Ten Apples Up On Top!'>Ten Apples Up on Top! headband for him to wear. Cole made sure to put some apples “really wobbly” on the stack. :)
