A little bit of bubbly

The days are still short, and we’re getting plenty of rain this winter (though, we have had a break for a week, and it’s been AWESOME)… sometimes you have to make do.

P.S. This is the second year I’ve left a little bit of extra light out until Groundhog’ Day, a day I learned is neatly halfway between winter solstice and spring equinox. I decided fun, pretty, and a little whimsical beat out a lot of other adjectives in a little mental tug of war after Paul suggested I unpack some strands moments after putting them away along with the ornaments and mantle/etc decorations. I like.

Bustin’ Out

Here in this house we’re kind of obsessed with Mythbusters, so over the holidays the kids and I went to the Mythbusters Explosive Exhibit at The Tech here in town.

At least Bunny smiles nicely for her mama…

The exhibit was part memorabilia, part hands on.

Could a person being attacked by a shark reach its eye while inside its mouth?

How long can you survive in an underground coffin? (They let Jamie out before he turned to this.)

Buster has been through a lot, be kind.

Phone books are strong!

Is running better than walking to keep dry in the rain?

True story: my father always insisted on walking, no, strolling—sauntering!—through the rain, say on a trip from the car to a store door. He insisted we who ran to the door were getting wetter or at least no less wet. It was a hotly contested point for about 5 seconds at a time periodically throughout my childhood. Ultimately? Running for the win!

This is not how you pull a tablecloth from under plates.

Heidi, I really want to just put this chair at your kitchen table. I think it’d be a great conversation starter!

Happy Birthday Cole!

068

:: special birthday time at preschool and cookies to share for snack
:: bowling (his request)
:: cake and presents

(missed his karate because he was pooped… it may not sound like a lot but he put a lot of energy into being VERRRRRY excited he’s now a whole hand of fingers old and he zonked out sitting up on the sofa shortly after present time)

Steamy Dinner

Our first dinner of the new year was a simple little feast planned by my husband and daughter.

New Year's Dinner 2013: lobster tails, artichokes, sparkling grape juice

Lobster tails, artichokes, rolls, vanilla ice cream for dessert. We declared it a new tradition—as long as lobster prices are reasonable. ;) (Bunny ate 3 tails! More than anyone else!)
